Memorandum of Understanding Signed
Serbia and Uzbekistan Strengthen Cooperation in Innovation
On the occasion of the two-day official visit to Serbia by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia and IT Park Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding today in Belgrade, establishing a framework for connecting the innovation ecosystems of the two countries.
The signing of the Memorandum contributes to the broader efforts of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation to support the growth of Serbia’s innovation ecosystem through international partnerships and create new opportunities for innovative Serbian companies to enter global markets.
The Memorandum was signed by Dr Sasa Lazovic, Managing Director of the Innovation Fund, and Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, Advisor to the CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan.
During the visit to the Innovation Fund, the IT Park Uzbekistan delegation was introduced to the Fund’s programmes and the results Serbia has achieved in supporting innovation and developing its innovation ecosystem. Representatives of IT Park Uzbekistan presented their operating model and shared Uzbekistan’s experience in supporting the IT sector and tech entrepreneurship.
The cooperation will focus on supporting the growth and international expansion of startups, innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, and technology companies from Serbia and Uzbekistan. The Memorandum provides opportunities to exchange knowledge, experience and best practices in developing venture capital markets and investment ecosystems, as well as to cooperate through international programmes and projects. Joint activities may include events, workshops, study visits and institutional exchanges.
“Today, innovation can no longer be developed solely within national boundaries. We need to bring together expertise, institutions and companies and build partnerships capable of delivering tangible results. I expect our cooperation with IT Park Uzbekistan to pave the way for new joint initiatives between Serbia and Uzbekistan,” said Dr Sasa Lazovic.
The Innovation Fund supports innovative companies in Serbia throughout their development journey, from the first prototype to business growth, attracting investment and expanding into new markets. IT Park Uzbekistan plays an important role in developing Uzbekistan’s IT sector and startup ecosystem by providing infrastructure and support programmes and connecting technology companies with partners and markets worldwide.
