Smart Start: Public Call Results
Smart Start for the Development of New Technologies
The Innovation Fund has approved support under the fifth public call of the Smart Start Program for teams developing innovative products, services, and technologies in the earliest stages of development. Through the program, designed to support the development of first prototypes and strengthen the startup ecosystem, funding has been approved for 23 innovative projects developed by startup teams from various industries and technology sectors.
The supported projects include AI solutions, healthcare innovations, smart systems for energy and traffic management, sustainable agriculture, business digitalization, as well as gaming, sport-tech, and green-tech solutions. This year’s cycle is particularly characterized by the growth of projects combining AI, automation, and sustainable technologies with practical applications in industry and everyday life.
This year’s public call attracted significant interest from teams across Serbia, with a total of 312 submitted applications. The largest number of projects is being developed in Belgrade and Novi Sad, with participation from teams based in Niš, Šabac, Smederevo, Požarevac, and other cities.
More than RSD 136 million in grant funding has been secured for project implementation through the program, while the total value of the supported projects exceeds RSD 149 million. In addition to financial support, teams will also receive mentoring support from the Fund throughout project implementation, focused on product development, market testing, and further improvement of business models.
Since 2022, the Smart Start Program has brought together an increasing number of teams transforming their ideas into innovative products, services, and technologies. To date, the program has supported 137 newly established companies, while a significant number of supported startups are already successfully commercializing their products and generating revenue on the market.
Funding for the implementation of the fifth public call has been provided from the budget of the Republic of Serbia for 2025 through the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation.
