28.10.2015

For the first time ever a Serbian startup will take part in one of the world’s largest events dedicated to innovations – SLUSH Conference in Finland this November.

Serbia’s representative in Slush 2015 is Neopix, a young digital creative agency with offices in Niš and Belgrade, whose focus is primarily on web and mobile technologies. With video game for mobile platforms „They Mean Well“, they were among 14 startup companies that took part in the local competition for Slush 2015, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and the Innovation Fund from Belgrade. Local startups in Serbia had a unique opportunity to present their ideas in the domain of social innovation and qualify for the conference in Finland.

“Finland is recognized as one of the leading countries in the world in what concerns innovations and support for startups. I’m very happy that Finland can offer its knowhow and contribute to the development of the innovation ecosystem also in Serbia. Innovation Fund has many activities with Serbian startups and therefore they are a natural partner for us. I wish Neopix success and unforgettable experience in Slush 2015“, said Pertti Ikonen, Finland’s Ambassador in Belgrade, at the reception held yesterday to honor the winners.

The two-day conference designed for startups will be held in the Finnish capital on 11 and 12 November. In 2014 Slush had 14,000 attendees from 80 countries, 1,400 startups, 750 investors and 690 journalists visiting the event. Over 3,700 investor-startup meetings were arranged over two days.

“To us, this is a confirmation from the industry leaders that we are on the right track, that the issues with which we have dealt are relevant, and that overall we have made a high-quality product. Slush is the ideal opportunity for us to introduce our team to European audiences, but also to get in touch with investors, companies and organizations that can help us in the further implementation of our ideas”, said Nikola Cvetković, one of the founders of Neopix.

Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia promotes the connection between science, technology and economy and contributes to the development of innovative entrepreneurship. During the past four years, the Fund awarded financial support to more than 50 innovative companies from Serbia through the EUR 8.4 million Innovation Serbia Project, financed by the European Union through the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) funds, and the expert support from the World Bank.
